The Plan

America in 100 Days is the brainchild of Tom, Sarah and Joey, three young college grads with an unquenchable thirst for adventure. We three intrepid travelers are planning a road trip across the United States of America, driving from the east coast to the west coast with many stops in between, starting on May 31, 2009. This journey will last for over three months, spanning over 10,000 miles in total. The fruits of our travels will include a permanent move from Philadelphia, Pa. to Portland, Or.

We started putting our idea into motion about a year in advance of our departure date, knowing full well that a move so momentous as this would require more planning than we'd ever be able to anticipate. And as we expected, our itinerary has grown by leaps and bounds during our months of planning, reaching all 48 of the contiguous United States. With so much to consider - destinations, routes, gear, food, shelter, and most importantly, money - the three of us have kept up a steady diet of regular meetings and planning sessions to keep our trip on track. Chances are, we won't have many more opportunities in our lives to do something as mind-blowing as this trip, so it's imperative that we do everything right.

Let's be honest. This is the trip of a lifetime. And we've committed ourselved to sharing every inch of it with the rest of the world, right here at America in 100 Days. From our many planning phases, and all throughout the journey itself, we'll be sharing our stories, opinions, plans and experiences as vividly as our means will allow. So come along for the ride, and enjoy this great adventure with us.
